Project Overview
This project marks SUNNY’s first fully integrated design–build project for Tsutaya Books, delivered with a high level of design fidelity through a refined design development process and an efficient construction schedule.
Drawing inspiration from Ningbo’s identity as a historic trading port city, the space blends architectural references such as modular box structures, ship decks, hull forms, and sail ropes with a contemporary literary environment. Material forms and textures are carefully composed to create a cultural space where maritime history and reading culture intersect.
To ensure precise execution from design to construction, SUNNY utilized real-time rendering simulations to anticipate post-completion spatial conditions, identify construction challenges, and develop targeted solutions in advance. Through optimized sequencing and resource coordination, potential risks were effectively mitigated, ensuring accurate and consistent implementation throughout the entire design–build process.
