Position Overview
The Construction Estimator will be responsible for analyzing construction drawings, specifications, proposals, and related documentation to prepare accurate estimates of time, cost, and labor for various commercial, retail, and light industrial projects.
This position requires a detail-oriented professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment, supporting both design-build and hard-bid projects.We are looking for candidates with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in commercial, retail, or light industrial construction and who work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, the candidate must be able to perform all essential duties independently and efficiently, maintaining accuracy and attention to detail across multiple projects.
Requirements
- Minimum of five (5) years of commercial or retail construction estimating experience;
- Experience with light industrial projects is a plus;
- Strong ability to manage multiple estimates simultaneously and meet deadlines;
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills;
- Strong communication and coordination skills with subcontractors and project teams;
- Analytical thinking, reliability, and high attention to detail;

Software Proficiency:
Experience with the following tools is preferred:
AEC360, Building Connect, Procore, Microsoft Excel, Bluebeam, and Box.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project drawings and documentation to determine material and labor requirements, and prepare detailed cost breakdowns;
- Manage the bidding process, analyze trade scopes, and qualify subcontractor bids;
- Conduct quantity take-offs and ensure compliance with mall or landlord requirements when applicable;
- Collect and verify all necessary data to prepare and submit client bids;
- Calculate cost factors to support project planning, organization, scheduling, bid preparation, change orders, and subcontractor/vendor agreements;
- Conduct special cost studies to establish standard labor hours and cost data, or to identify cost-saving opportunities;
- Communicate with clients, landlords, subcontractors, and vendors to clarify estimates and resolve discrepancies;
- Prepare competitive proposals and negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors;
- Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process.
Education & Experience
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant estimating or cost management experience, or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry publications, technical documents, and governmental regulations;
- Proficiency in preparing professional reports and business correspondence;
- Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with employees, managers, clients, and the public.
